Find the help you need to achieve your sporting and fitness goals and improve your muscle mass in the AMIX™ online amino acid catalogue.

What types of amino acids are there?

There are two types of amino acids: essential and non-essential .

  • Non-essential . They are synthesized by the human body, so it is not necessary to obtain them through diet. They are: alanine, arginine, asparagine, aspartic acid, cysteine, glutamic acid, glutamine, glycine, proline, serine and tyrosine. There are gym amino acid supplements that increase their presence in the body or stimulate their production due to their value for athletes.
  • Essential . The body is unable to synthesize them by itself, therefore, the organism can only use them if they are provided through diet or supplementation . Essential amino acids in supplements allow the body to have the dose it needs, among them are the BCAA or branched chain amino acids . The essential amino acids are: histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan and valine.

AMIX™ Essential Amino Acids

AMIX™ essential amino acids made from high-quality raw materials and in high concentrations allow you to provide your body with the dose it needs and cannot achieve through diet alone.

They are easy to take and give the athlete the necessary support to activate muscle synthesis, reduce and postpone fatigue, as well as accelerate muscle recovery.

The wide range of AMIX™ amino acids makes it easy for you to choose the right one for you and your requirements.

How do amino acid supplements work?

Amino acid supplements combine to form proteins. Amino acids are part of proteins, which are essential for the functioning of cells and tissues in the body. But amino acid supplements work differently depending on their type, and therefore provide different benefits .

  • BCAAs are directly absorbed into the bloodstream and act quickly, delaying muscle fatigue and helping the body prevent muscle mass loss .
  • L -glutamine acts by stimulating the storage of glycogen in the muscles and activating the production of proteins , increasing the availability of energy , improving muscle recovery and promoting the creation of new muscle tissue.
  • L -carnitine acts as a powerful fat burner by using fat as a source of energy. Thus, it performs the dual function of increasing available energy and promoting fat burning .
  • L -Arginine has a vasodilatory effect that promotes blood flow and muscle oxygenation, and makes the transport of nutrients to the cells that are part of the muscles more fluid and agile and helps tone and grow muscles .

When should you take amino acids?

Amino acid supplements can and should be taken before, during and after training, combined with high-quality proteins and in the right dose to help the athlete achieve their goals, improve their physical fitness and contribute to their best performance. Each type of goal has a time when it is most convenient to take amino acid supplements.

Carefully read the recommended dosage and dosage instructions on the label of each AMIX™ amino acid supplement.

Pre workout amino acids

Taking pre-workout amino acids as a drink improves the presence of amino acids in the blood during the following two hours, which usually include training and the recovery immediately after, and facilitates their distribution throughout the body. So it is a good time to have a branched chain amino acid shake with protein powder.

Ideally, they should be taken from about 30 minutes before the start of the training session until just after it begins, so that they are absorbed and assimilated by the body at the time when they are most needed, achieving maximum effectiveness. In this window, it is positive to take BCAAs, arginine, glutamine and carnitine.

Amino acids during training

Ingesting amino acids during training in the case of BCAAs helps maintain constant energy when exercising . It also postpones the onset of the feeling of fatigue , so you can prolong the time or intensity of training, and helps maintain concentration during training.

Post-workout amino acids

Taking amino acids for muscle recovery after resistance training is a good decision, and complements the effect of those taken before starting the workout. It is also a good time to take them if the goal of the training is to increase muscle mass .

However, if you have other goals, and you have taken amino acids before training, you can also take them afterwards as long as you do not take any other type of sports or nutritional supplement during this metabolic window .

Amino acids and muscle recovery

The role of amino acids is key in muscle recovery. They are part of proteins and these are essential for muscle tissue . Therefore, amino acids help repair tissues, as well as reduce muscle tissue wear, all of which is key to recovery.

As an example:

  • BCAAs combined with simple carbohydrates facilitate the delivery of amino acids to the muscles and support the production of the human growth hormone HGH, which improves the production of muscle tissue, for rapid repair and muscle growth.
  • L -glutamine is the amino acid with the highest presence in the muscle , so its contribution is key for good muscle recovery.
  • Isoleucine actively participates in the regeneration of muscle tissue .
