Getting to know Raquel Arranz better…
When and why did you get into bodybuilding?
I have always been involved in sports since I was very young: rhythmic gymnastics, ice skating, swimming, belly dancing… When I was 22, I decided to change disciplines because I was looking for other goals. I wanted to change my body and my lifestyle. I was strong, I had good genetics, but I wanted a curvy and toned body. So I put myself in the hands of a trainer who made me a nutritional and training plan. In 2012, I made my first debut in the Bikini Fitness category.
What does bodybuilding bring to your life?
It gives me psychological and emotional stability. It has made me a more self-confident, strong and disciplined person. It also helps me lead an orderly life. It allows me to be healthy and active. In short, it allows me to feel good inside and out.

Which competition do you remember most fondly?
I have many that I hold dear. But my first championship as a professional, in which I won my first gold, was an unforgettable experience. Truly rewarding and enriching on a personal level. Being in a different country, there was a huge cultural change, starting with gastronomy. I had the opportunity to compete outside of Spain thanks to the Spanish National Team. Without a doubt, in 2018 I had the best experience of my sporting career, not excluding the Professional World Cup.
Any quirks before going on stage?
I think of a little angel I have in heaven. That helps me relax and disconnect from the world. I even joke with my colleagues. It's the best way to get rid of the nerves so I can go out and enjoy the job that has taken us so many years to achieve.
What are your plans for 2021?
I don't have anything planned at the moment. I just got off the stage and I'd like to take some time off to keep improving.
We are sure that our athlete will achieve great success in the projects she sets herself in the future. Fortunately, passion and perseverance are often rewarded as they deserve .
