Getting to know Lara Fernández better…
When did you get started in the world of Muay Thai?
I discovered this sport in 2010 at an event they held in my town, but I started training in 2011.
What does Muay Thai bring to you? What has it taught you?
Right now Muay Thai is my life. Since I started it has given me confidence, it has taught me to improve myself, to be disciplined and the importance of respect.
Your 3 Amix must-haves are…
You can't miss the ISO CFM protein, creatine and Peanut Butter.
Lara Fernández: “I won much more than a belt. It was a challenge!”
Which competition do you remember most fondly?
My fight for the WBC Muay Thai world title. The WBC is the most important federation in the world, both in Muay Thai and Boxing. It was in a super low weight category for me, I thought I wouldn’t make it… 50.8 kg!! I had to lose 8 kg!! Halfway through preparation I got sick, I was unable to train for two weeks and on a super strict diet. Very weak and without strength… Also several things came up on a personal level and I had to bring out my strongest side to be able to continue training, without thinking about how weak I was and the “problems”. I won the title, yes, but I won much more than a belt. It was quite a challenge!
What are your plans for 2021?
I'm going to keep training with the hope that everything will improve and I can compete. I've been offered to defend the WBC world title in May, but until then a lot can happen... I'm still training!
Do you have any quirks before getting into the ring?
Yes, I have a habit… When I'm in the ring, before the fight begins, I wave my hands. I don't know why!
Whether she finally fights for the world title or goes for other projects, we are sure that Lara will continue to achieve success. A true example of perseverance and sacrifice. Go for it, champion!
