Ideas for healthy refreshing drinks to beat the heat

Watermelon and mint water

It is very easy to prepare, highly refreshing, light and healthy.

To prepare a litre of drink, dice 150 grams of watermelon and put it in a jug or water bottle along with six clean leaves of fresh mint. Add the clean zest of one lemon, only the yellow part, without any of the white part. Fill with a litre of water. Allow the flavours to infuse for at least six hours or overnight.

Homemade iced tea without added sugar

It's as easy as preparing a concentrated tea infusion by putting the amount needed for four cups in just one cup of water. Once infused, serve it in a jug or reusable bottle with the juice of half a lemon, three cups of fresh water and two slices of orange.

Mix well and you're done. If you like sweet things a lot, you can add a small amount of stevia.

Light cherry lassi

Wash a glass of cherries, cut them in half and remove the pit.

In a blender glass, put the cherry flesh together with three low-fat yogurts, 375 ml of very cold water, a knife tip of powdered ginger, a pinch of ground cardamom and a dash of ground black pepper.

Blend everything well and you can now enjoy one of the most exotic and surprising refreshing and healthy drinks.

Pineapple, mango and avocado smoothie

Another healthy and fresh drink to drink that will help you stay hydrated. It is ideal to have for breakfast or to drink as an alternative to alcoholic cocktails .

Blend the pulp of a ripe avocado , 1/2 kg of pineapple and half a mango . Add a pinch of ground cinnamon and a few ice cubes, and you're done!

Sugar-free fresh ginger lemonade

More suggestive and daring than traditional lemonade and sugar-free, it is a refreshing and healthy drink.

Wash a lime and cut it into thin slices. Put the lime slices in a jug and cover with the juice of six freshly squeezed lemons . Add 5 crushed saccharin tablets and dilute them in the juice. Top up with 10 grams of fresh ginger cut into very thin slices and 1/2 litre of very cold water. You can add ice cubes, stir well and if you let it sit for a few minutes before drinking, the flavours will blend better.

Spiced tomato juice or non-alcoholic Bloody Mary

It is the refreshing, healthy, abstinent and light version of the Bloody Mary cocktail.

Wash 1kg of pear tomatoes and put them in a blender to extract all their juice, along with a green celery stalk . Add a pinch of salt, ground black pepper and 7 or 8 drops of Tabasco or another mild hot sauce. Mix well and you can drink it.

Iced Coffee Shake

Prepare 2 cups (250 ml) of coffee . Mix it with half a litre of very cold skimmed milk from the fridge, a tablespoon of pure, defatted cocoa powder , a pinch of ground cinnamon and 15 grams of stevia powder.

If you are going to drink it straight away, add some ice to chill it well. Otherwise, you can put the drink in the fridge in an airtight bottle so that the aromas are not lost.

Non-alcoholic pineapple and coconut cocktail

Blend a kilo of pineapple and mix it with half a litre of chilled coconut water from the fridge. Add a sprig of fresh mint , well washed, and let everything sit together for an hour in the fridge before serving.

Forest fruit water

Put 50 grams of blueberries , 50 grams of raspberries and 50 grams of blackberries in a jug . Cover with 1 litre of boiling water and let it infuse for 20 minutes. Chill well in the fridge to serve cold.

As you can see, summer doesn't only mean drinking water, soft drinks, fizzy drinks or sugary drinks. You have plenty of healthy, delicious and varied drinks to enjoy at any time of the year.
