There is not a day that we don't discover new things when we talk to our athletes. Not only do they fight with perseverance and sacrifice to make their goals a reality, but they also stand out for their great humility and ability to overcome themselves. Today we talk to Pedro Roque, who doesn't know whether to blame "fate or chance" for his first contact with bodybuilding, but who has undoubtedly given him "the desire to improve himself daily and to be a confident person." Don't miss it!
Getting to know Pedro Roque better
When did you get into bodybuilding?
My first competition was in 2012 as Men's Physique. It was the festivities in my town and all the gyms were closed. I decided to go to another town to train and that's where, call it coincidence or destiny, the director of that gym saw me. He thought I had a good physique for that time and suggested I compete in Malaga, he gave me a little tune-up and off I went. I finished runner-up.
What does bodybuilding bring to your life?
Bodybuilding has given me the desire to improve myself every day and to be a confident person. It has taught me discipline, honesty, responsibility, effort, hard work, self-control, not to prejudge... When all these things go with you and you integrate them into your daily life, they help you to be a better person, to want to improve yourself in all areas. I just want to be able to convey to people that everyone can achieve it.

Pedro Roque: “I went on stage, I grew up and I enjoyed it a lot”
Is there any competition that you remember fondly?
I think that, even though I didn't win, it was the Diamond Cup, the first international competition I did. I won the bronze medal, I competed against people I admire... That day, insecurity and nerves took over me until I went out on stage, I grew and I enjoyed it very much.
What plans do you have for this year?
For now I'll continue as always, without a date to compete, but with the goal of continuing to grow as an athlete and leaving when I have a more competitive physique. I want to change categories.
Do you have any habits before going on stage?
I don't know if it's a mania or not, but I need to have someone by my side to remind me that I'm there to enjoy myself. I always make myself very small until I step onto the stage.
